Celebrating NAIDOC Week at St Columbkille's
As part of the acknowledgement and celebration of NAIDOC Week 2020, our school came together in liturgy celebrating the theme ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’.
The St Columbkille’s school community was also proud to share that our student Ava Cooper and Indigenous Support Teacher Mrs Liz Orphin (pictured) were presented with Deadly Awards!
Mrs Orphin’s achievements include: supporting students in developing a great understanding of their Indigenous culture; maintaining support links with Indigenous students and their families during COVID-19 remote learning; and developing of residences, symbols and items that support student learning.
Ava received her award for work with the school community, making Indigenous connections for the younger students and for demonstrating great pride in her Indigenous heritage.
Well done Ava and Mrs Orphin!
